Dr Kao is a highly skilled research scientist and data scientist at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. She holds a PhD in Psychology from Taiwan University. She has built a number of computational tools for the analysis of large-scale datasets in both academia and industry.
As a data scientist, Dr Kao she has been developing advanced algorithms for the analysis of huge neuroimaging and biometric datasets in order to reveal the biomarkers of sleep disorders, thereby enhancing the diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy of clinical applications. As a research scientist, she has coordinated multidisciplinary teams investigating the neurological mechanisms of pathological diseases, such as sleep apnea, insomnia and dementia. She has also co-supervised graduate students.
