Dr Maddie Berry graduated with a PhD from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2024, with her thesis focusing on pharmacological combinations designed to overcome and prevent resistance in ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer. In mid-2024 she joined the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research as a postdoctoral scientist in the Centre for Lung Cancer.

Dr Berry’s research interests span lung cancer, pharmacological mechanisms, and translational science. Her expertise is in molecular biology, drug screening and 3D culture methods. Currently, her research is dedicated to uncovering the mechanisms underlying the enhanced clinical responses observed in lung cancer patients when antibiotics are administered during cancer treatment. In addition to her research, she co-coordinates the weekly respiratory seminar meetings at the Woolcock Institute.
