Professor Delwyn Bartlett is a Conjoint Professor at Macquarie University and a Health Psychologist and co-ordinator of Medical Psychology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. She has been working in sleep medicine as a researcher and clinician for over 30 years.
She set up and ran a group cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) programme at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for the treatment of insomnia. She works in private practice at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research seeing insomnia patients and does training and supervision of psychologists interested in working in sleep. She continues to be involved in a number of research studies at the Woolcock.
Professor Bartlett has worked on a number of NHMRC grants exploring a CBT program to improve the uptake of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in individuals with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA); exploring the effects of exposure to infrasound (Wind Farm study) a sleep programme for new parents; the effects of cannabis on sleep and performance; an app for sleep consolidation; improving sleep in shift workers; internet programs for adolescents; the association between sleep disorders and dementia; high density EEG studies and recently working on an emotional well-being program for individuals with COPD and for individuals with OSA and COPD. She has supervised Psychology students for registration and has authored and co-authored many papers relating to sleep disorders and treatment interventions.
